Heyy! i have a 2G iPhone .. if i update my version to 3.0 .. my iPhone will be locked again right ?! any idea for any available jailbreak ?!
June 19th, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Abdullah N: Follow the iPhone dev team for updates on jailbreaking locked iPhones , and yes , upgrading locked 2G iPhones with the new firmware will relock ur phone.
June 20th, 2009 at 4:10 am
Hi there. I’ve installed the wataniya settings as you mentioned which are also the same manual configuration settings from the Wataniya Support page, but it doesn’t work out with me. Anyone having the same problem??
June 20th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
Lunardream : Have you enabled MMS ? try rebooting your phone after you’ve placed all the settings required , It would also require you to enter your phone number in order for it to work.
hope this helps but sorry I don’t have a Wataniya line to test the settings for you.
June 20th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
mashkoor, I already rebooted it and it worked finely, ya36eekum el 3afiya shabab. btw, any settings for max.size of attachment for mms? usually its 300 kb, or does iphone send it regardless of its size??

Has anyone managed to get push notifications working out here in kuwait? I’ve an unlocked & jailbroken 2g iphone that all works perfectly (inc showing push in the settings) but haven’t had any notifications yet. Mobileme’s new messages comes through but nothing from tap tap,
June 21st, 2009 at 1:13 am
Lunardream : El 3afu, glad to hear that its working fine with you.
The max size of MMS field should be left blank in my guess since the iPhone would shrink the size of the file (photo/voice note/Contact/Map Location) down to where the phone and service is able to deliver it, I left it blank and all of my sent MMS goes through with no problems.
Mark: Push notification is an app dependent feature, in order to have it working you need to download/install an app that has notifications on it, plus you need to enable notifications from the settings ( once you choose settings , you’ll see notifications tap right under the Carrier tap ) from there you get to enable the notifications for each app that supports it.
Jailbreaking and unlocking for 3.0 only works for the 2G iPhone at the moment, there’s a jailbreaking tool available for the 3G iPhones right now from the DEV Team but no Unlocking tool as of yet. maybe in a couple of days.

I’ve got a few apps installed and checked all the settings but still haven’t received push on AP (setup as usa), Truphone, Quickpigeon, Tap tap etc. Have you got it working over here?
June 21st, 2009 at 9:38 am
Mark : yes, I have an app called HeyWAY (Location shairing app) and the notification feature is working perfectly , you might want to reboot your phone for the new settings to take effect, are you using an iPhone 3G ? this feature might not work with a 2G iPhone.
June 21st, 2009 at 10:19 am
Hi,
This is seriously annoying now! I’ve got a 2g phone. I tried rebooting and doing a new restore (and even using a new pynaged file!) and nothing.
We have two 2g iphones at home and both are the same – is there anyone who’s had success with the 2g??
The strangest thing is that mobileme findmyiphone works perfectly, it finds my phone and sends the push notification immediately – supposedly this is the same system.
June 21st, 2009 at 12:04 pm
Mark : Find my phone is a MobileMe exclusive feature, if you have a mobileme account and synced your phone with it, it should work fine, the push email, contact and calenders are system based push/fetch, these are linked to apple servers providing that you are a mobileme member, these features works on the iPod touch as well and perfectly, Other Push notifications are app dependent like I’ve explained earlier, plus it might not work good with 2G iPhones or iPod touches.
June 21st, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Mark: There is a bug with push notification + hacked phones + iphone 2g so wait for it to be fixed.
June 24th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
Thanks for the MMS help

Thank you for your help guys! can anyone please tell me if the VIVA mms settings are working? Because tethering works properly on my VIVA line but for some reason the mms is still not working, can anyone help me please?
Thanks
June 26th, 2009 at 2:30 pm
FAH-Buzberry: You are welcome, Have you tried rebooting your phone after you applied these settings ? are you subscribed to MMS with Viva and the feature is activated ? make sure you have it activated on your phone.
Our Member SpikeyQ8 have created a IPCC file that will enable both MMS and Tethering plus it will place the Operator Logo for you , please check our forum under iPhone for more info, and thanks once again for stopping by.

I have zain’s high speed plan. The settings they recommend to use are hspps not pps. I tried both and the speed difference is huge. The settings in the ipcc file in this post are pps. If I try to use an ipcc generator using hspps, mms won’t work. When I change te mms setting on my iPhone to correct this, the tethering doesn’t work.
Please help. I need an ipcc with hspps for cellular data settings and pps for mms, so I can have both tethering and mms working at the same time.

Woohooo, at last the MMS with VIVA worked with me perfectly. I did just as mentioned up. i’m really happy. i couldn’t find the configuration of mms for VIVA except here. even VIVA them self doesn’t know how to configure the mms for iphone 3G.
thank u thank u thank u guys.

“Note: Someone with a VIVA line try it and let us know!”
