Independent sources saying that Steve Jobs has been heard saying that the upcoming Apple tablet “will be the most important thing I’ve ever done.” They report is said to come from multiple sources:
We havent heard this first hand, but weve heard it multiple times second and third hand from completely independent sources. Senior Apple execs and friends of Jobs are telling people that hes about as excited about the upcoming Apple Tablet as hes ever been.
DigiTimes points to a report from Taiwan’s China Times claiming that Apple is preparing to launch a 22-inch touchscreen iMac in the second half of this year.
The report also claims that Apple’s highly-anticipated tablet will launch later this month, and will include a 9.7-inch screen.

Apple has issued invitations for a media event scheduled for 10:00 AM Pacific Time on January 27th. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, and the invitation’s tag line reads “Come see our latest creation.”
No official word if the iTablet is going to be announced at the event, but from the invitation it looks like something new is going to be announced! We’ll have to wait and see what apple and Steve have in their sleeves.
UPDATE:
FOXNews.com reports that Apple’s January 27th media event is expected to include the introduction of Apple’s much-anticipated tablet device and iPhone OS 4.0, as well as iLife 2010. According to the report, no iPhone hardware is expected to be shown.
I spoke to a source at Apple this morning, before the invite hit my inbox, who said the event would likely focus on three projects: The tablet device, iPhone 4, and a new round of iLife 2010 software. While we won’t see new iPhone hardware just yet, we will see the next-generation software.
The Financial Times reports that it has received word that Apple has scheduled a special media event for Tuesday, January 26th in San Francisco. The event will reportedly be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, site of the company’s music-focused events held each fall in recent years.
Apple Tablet rumors have exploded in the past few days with reports suggesting that Apple may introduce the device as early as January. A New York Times Blog post by Nick Bilton adds a few tantalizing tidbits about the upcoming device.
according to a current senior employee at Apple, Steve Jobs is said to be “extremely happy with the new tablet.”
UPDATE : according to All Things D , They claim that the event would take place around the 27th of Jan rather than the 26th.
Sources in a position to know tell me Apple (AAPL) is indeed planning a media event later this month at which it will announce a major new product. The gathering is to be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, a space Apple often uses for media events like these. According to other sources, it will occur on Wednesday Jan. 27, not Tuesday Jan. 26, as had been rumored.

Gizmodo reports that in addition to Apple’s much-rumored 10-inch tablet computer, the company is also developing larger tablets in 13-inch and 15-inch sizes. The source, which the report claims has been “100% reliable” in the past, also notes that one of those models would run full Mac OS X.
This source claims that the two touchscreen prototypes — made of aluminum, but on the shape of big iPhones — were in a factory in Shenzuen, China. One of them “was running Mac OS X 10.5.” When I asked, the source didn’t know if these were built for demonstration purposes, or if they were preproduction units. The company has a tight relation with Apple but “it’s not FoxConn.”
