Think Secret believes Apple is set to introduce updated MacBook laptops following the release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard later this month, sources report. With Leopard on track to hit stores October 26, the updated MacBooks could be consumer hands by the first half of November, if not sooner.
Sources believe the MacBook update will not be too substantial, instead mirroring a similar speed bump the systems received last November ahead of the holiday buying season. It is unclear at this time whether this means the MacBook will maintain its current architecture and receive faster processors, from the current 2.0/2.16GHz configurations to 2.16/2.33GHz, or whether it will adopt the newer Santa Rosa architecture that the MacBook Pro gained earlier this year.
They also believe that Apple is not expected to update the MacBook Pro before the end of the year, and sources at this time don’t expect any other Mac hardware to see a revision before the holidays.

Right now, One can only wait after leopard release and see if apple is going to upgrade it’s hardware before the end of this calendar year.
If you want my personal opinion ? I would wait till Macworld 08 before upgrading my system, Most of apple new hardware announcements are announced at that time. Unless you are really in need of a new machine and cannot wait till Jan 2008.

I don’t want to wait until Jan 08, I want something by December 07 and since I recently sold my Macbook I am Macbook-less
It’s sad and I’m sad. I just hope Mac Thin makes a debut or something along the lines of it!

As G-Funk said, you should wait. The Macbook Pro Line is due for an update sometime this month or next month. As for the Macbooks by x-mas. Same time frame as last year. January we are sure to see new models. I would give it till the end of October for Macbook Pro because the previous 2.33 model was release on the 26th 28th of October last year. That is when I got mine.

Well let’s see on what comes first, I hope Mac Thin turns out to be real, or aluminum macbooks. I want something amazing.. I am hoping that the updates are before Xmas. And last year it was mid-October when they came out with the MBPs and November when they came out with the MBs with C2D
