Apple Releases iPad “Guided Tours” (Video)

Category : News, Video

Apple posted a series of guided tours for the iPad, gearing up for the device’s launch in the U.S. later this week. The 11 guided tours cover basic features such as Safari, Mail, Photos, and iPod that should be familiar in at least basic concept to iPhone and iPod touch users. The iPad’s larger screen, however, has allowed Apple to enhance those applications for a richer user experience. Also included are tours of Videos, YouTube, and iTunes.

New iPhone in the works?

Category : News

The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple is working on two new iPhone models, one of which will be compatible with CDMA network, for release this year.

According to the article, the two iPhone models will be produced by different manufacturers:

The people briefed on the matter said one of the new iPhones is being manufactured by Taiwanese contract manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which produced Apple’s previous iPhones. The model that has CDMA capability, used by Verizon Wireless, is being manufactured by Pegatron Technology Corp., the contract manufacturing subsidiary of Taiwan’s ASUSTeK Computer Inc., said these people.

The new GSM version would be released this summer while the CDMA model for Verizon would not go into production until September.

There has been much speculation about how much longer the iPhone will remain exclusively with AT&T in the U.S.   A report earlier this year indicated that the exclusivity deal would end in 2010 and that AT&T was seeking to extend it.

Apple to Stream Video As Well as Music and TV from ‘the Cloud’

Category : News

CNet reports that Apple’s plans for cloud computing could go well beyond music. Apple is said to have been in negotiations with some of the major film studios to offer streaming video service to users.

Apple has told the studios that under the plan, iTunes users will access video from various Internet-connected devices. Apple would, of course, prefer that users access video from the iPad, the company’s upcoming tablet computer, the sources said.

Apple has been making apparent moves into streaming content with the acquisition of LaLa media and their North Carolina data center, but previous rumors had focused primarily on music streaming.
