So need 4 the BBM now I’m sick of my BB

NEED a chnage i’LL get the Iphone soOn

1. BBM was created to have a business geared device to have an IM client that uses a device specific code to reach , which means using a point-to-point direct chatting to one device to another “for security reasons”, That was the main purpose of BBM, you don’t have to go through a server based IM which passwords and ID’s can be stolen, which also means you are really talking to the person you think you are talking to “Unless his device gets stolen, which also can be wiped remotely..same case with the iPhone using MobileMe or Exchange”.

2. Some people find having this feature important, they don’t want to share their ID’s with the masses, they want privacy and I believe Ping provides that for them “even though its lacking most of the IM features”.

3. This app would appeal to Business users more than an avid user, Apple didn’t create an IM app similar to BBM for the “Business” user of the iPhone, and left that for the developer community to do so.

in the end its a matter of choice, If you don’t like the app don’t use it thats why we have a variety and diversity in apps and services, not all are doing well but some are doing very well for a certain group of people, I for one would rather have something like Ping for users who don’t want to share their identity with the masses, or for a business group that have iPhones.

1. The fact that BBM uses data is irrelevant. The issue is that the online community hails Ping! being free as a feature when it’s not a feature at all. 

2. This is exactly the limitation I mean. Why create yet ANOTHER device-specific IM client? Why take something bad and limited and then copy it on yet another device?

3. I fail to agree. I think the statistics would show that people who have iPhones are more likely to have at least ONE account – if not a combination – of the following services: MSN, AIM, Yahoo, or Google Talk.

4. This app doesn’t lack some of the features of BBM. The fundamental issue is that it is NOT BBM. It is a clone of the service that BBM offers but only for iPhone users. In other words, it is recreating the problem of BBM on another dimension. BBM is a Blackberry-only service. Because of the nature of the service, it will most-likely never work on non-Blackberry devices, namely the iPhone.

In a nutshell, the creation of any new device specific IM client is just silly. Why would you recreate BBM’s limitations intentionally? It makes more sense to create a multi-platform IM service instead. 

If Ping! – or another client – could connect to the real BBM, which is very unlikely, if not impossible, then we’re talking business. 

1. BBM still uses data, which means it still consumes packets from your data plan ( at least in the regions where we don’t have an unlimited BB data plan)

2. The Other IM clients are cross platform, BBM is not.

3. Not most people use IM (MSN, Yahoo, AIM .etc) so this is a great alternative.

4. Even though Ping! is lacking most of the features BBM has, I still feel that this app is going to mature , feature and GUI wise

So at least we can say that this app is some what a BBM or a Direct IM client for iPhones
