Microsoft to Launch iPhone Rival on Verizon Early Next Year?

Category : News

In a brief report, The Wall Street Journal claims that Microsoft and Verizon are in talks to launch an iPhone rival in early 2010. MarketWatch summarizes the report:

The Microsoft phone, code-named “Pink,” is expected to appear by 2010 and would extend the tech giant’s Windows Mobile cellphone operating system, according to the Journal.

Similar to Google’s Android platform, Microsoft will reportedly work with a third party who will manufacture the device, but Microsoft will play an integral role in design and development.

Verizon has been linked to several rumors regarding the iPhone from mainstream news sources in recent days, first with renewed claims that the iPhone may be making its way onto the carrier’s network sometime next year, and earlier today with rumors that Apple and Verizon are developing two new products, an “iPhone lite” and a larger “Media Pad”, also slated for release as early as 2010.

Snow Leopard to offer screen recording + Shairing via QuickTime X Player

Category : News

With the introduction of Snow Leopard, QuickTime Player will assume more of a utilitarian role, with screen recording features reportedly joining the software’s exiting repertoire of basic audio and video capture capabilities.

People familiar with the latest betas of Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard have been reporting over the past several weeks the addition of a ‘Screen recording’ option in the File menu of the new Quick Time X Player due to ship with the OS overhaul later this summer.

Similar in many ways to a feature long offered by Ambrosia Software through its Snapz Pro X utility, the option will allow users to capture in motion video their Mac’s screen — essentially video screenshots.

Apple Responds to Microsoft’s “PC Ads”

Category : Humor, News, Thoughts

Microsoft been releaseing several TV ads bashing the Mac and claiming that it’s way overpriced and that PC’s can do more for less.  What they did is that they’ve let people choose their next computer spec and set the price and if they find it they get to keep it, and intentially letting them feature the mac as beeing cool but way overpriced for what it can do.

Whatch their ads here :

As you can see The ads specifically target Apple’s Macs as having a higher cost than PCs. Hesseldahl rehashes the usual arguments on cost, but also gets a rare comment from Apple’s PR department on the new ads. Apple’s Bill Evans said of the ads:

“A PC is no bargain when it doesn’t do what you want …. The one thing that both Apple and Microsoft can agree on is that everyone thinks the Mac is cool. With its great designs and advanced software, nothing matches it at any price.”

Some Apple Fans created this parody of Mircorsoft ad which we find to be quite funny :-)
