iPhone Firmware 2.2 to be released tomorrow?

Category : News

Apple rumor sites have been reporting that apple would release the new iPhone firmware update (V.2.2) tomorrow “Nov 21″, This update would(might) feature the following:

- New look for the Safari with the Google search bar now occupying its own space on the title bar
- Toggle On / Off to disable the auto-correction
- 461 Japanese emoji icons
Support for new languages. (Hopefully arabic support)
- Line-in audio is activated and can be used through the headphone jack
- Google Street View, Google Transit information – Routes public transport, Walking directions, Location sharing.

So be on the look out for it, people who are still using jailbroken iPhones should hold their horses for a while before upgrading. The iPhone Dev Team have posted the following warning on their blog:

Update warning!

We’ve explained about the pros and cons of applying Apple’s updates in the past and we’ve warned against the immediate installation of these updates without knowing what they do to your device.

This is indeed true of the iPhone 3G’s upcoming 2.2 release. Installing ‘2.2’ straight away on the iPhone 3G using the iTunes auto-updater could affect your chances of any software unlock in the near future (should one be found and released), so when you see an update in iTunes await our instructions first!

Please don’t blindly install the update and then complain about it later.”
