Apple has just released Time Machine and Airport Update V1.0 , This update will now allow users to hook up an external USB hard drive to their existing   Airport Extream base stations and enable remote Time Machine Backup.

Apple states :

- This update is recommended for all users and includes compatibility improvements for using Time Machine with Time Capsule, as well as AirPort driver fixes.
