Outgoing calls on iPhone without AT&T’s Simcard !!
A guy has successfully switched out the iPhone SIM card to make outgoing calls from his iPhone on the Telstra network, rather than AT&T. The hack doesn’t currently support incoming calls, but I expect it’s only a matter of time before someone jumps that hurdle.
Unfortunately , a video that this guy posted on Youtube demonstrating that call was pulled down.

iWork 08?

Apple’s Start Page briefly listed a headline with the title Keynote ‘08. The title was quickly changed, but the name suggests that Apple could even skip the iWork/Keynote ‘07 version designation that was originally expected at Macworld San Francisco in January. Alternatively, this could be a simple typo.

New iMac Keyboard?

According to engadget.com this could be the new iMac keyboard. The keyboard borrows its design from the Macbook keyboard and is thin with a brushed aluminum finish and white keys. The new iMac is, supposedly, slated for release during the first week of August and it is said to feature a new brushed aluminum finish instead of the familiar white color.

Pictures of The iPhone Bluetooth HeadSet/Charger.

Apple claims the $129 accessory can provide up to 72 hours of standby time and up to 5.5 hours of talk time on a single charge. While the Online Apple Store shows a 2-4 week lag time, it would appear that there is at least limited retail store availability.

Script to Automate Convertion of rm files to mp3 (Update!)
I have made this simple script to help you convert your rm, real audio file, to mp3. All you have to do is download it, extract it and make sure the folder containing all the files you want to convert is the top one in Finder. It will rename the files, convert them, and then rename them back. It should be able to handle all the files in the top folder.
-Create a folder in Finder and drag all your .rm files to it.
-Run the script and wait.
-Thats it.
Note: This script assumes that you have installed ffmpegX and Real player as per the guide provided earlier!
You can download the script HERE.
Update: I have updated the script to handle errors encountered during conversion.

Xee 2.0
![]()
Xee is a simple, lightweight, and fast program that displays images. It is a replacement for the Preview application provided by Apple with OS X and best of all, it is free.
Features:
-Universal Binary
-Support a large number of image formats
-Rotation and Cropping for all image types
-Slideshow ability
-Steps through images in a folder
What I like about Xee is when you open a single image from a folder filled with other images you have the ability to step through the entire folder and view all the images within. This feature is much like Windows image preview and is a serious lacking on Apple’s part. It is also very lightweight and springs up to life quite fast. The interface is very basic with buttons to help you navigate and others to do simple flipping and rotating of images. At the bottom, you are presented with a bar the displays relevant information about the image you are currently viewing. It includes the number of the image, the zoom percentage, the resolution, the color profile, the size of the file, and the name and date of the file.
Overall, Xee is an excellent replacement to the Preview application and is quite fast. It is very simple and provides a lot of important information about the image. Best of all is its ability to brows an entire folder of images and its simple editing features.

Second generation $249 iPhone in September ??

According to DigiTimes, Taiwan’s Chinese-language Commercial Times says that Taiwan’s Wintek has gained the touch-screen panel orders for the second-gen iPhone. The report claims that Wintek has already begun test production in small volumes with Apple intent on selling their newest model of the iPhone in September for somewhere between $249 and $299. Unfortunately, the article doesn’t state where this flavor of the iPhone will be sold. An important omission given that September is the same rumored delivery for Quanta’s iPhone variant meant specifically for non-US markets

Apple Developing backlit trackpad

A recent patent filed by Apple suggests the company is continuously looking for ways to improve user input devices. In this case, Apple describes an “improved feedback mechanism for touch pads”, including “devices capable of illuminating the touch sensitive surface of the touch pad” and “methods for providing visual feedback at the touch pad.”
Although touch pads work well, improvements to their form feel and functionality are desired. By way of example, it may be desirable to provide visual stimuli at the touch pad so that a user can better operate the touch pad. For example, the visual stimuli may be used (among others) to alert a user when the touch pad is registering a touch, alert a user where the touch is occurring on the touch pad, provide feedback related to the touch event, indicate the state of the touch pad, and/or the like.
Apple currently includes back-lit keyboards in its MacBook Pro notebook computers. The current application builds on numerous previous patents filed between 2002 and 2005.
